Priceline price dropped after you booked
Priceline has no price drop protection: it doesn’t watch your price after you book. You can still get a lower price yourself. For a hotel with free cancellation, book the same room again at the new price, then cancel the old booking. For a flight, ask Priceline to reprice the same flights; Priceline issued the ticket, so the airline won’t change it.
Express Deals can’t be cancelled or changed. For those, Priceline’s Best Price Guarantee is the only route, and only for Priceline VIP members.

Book the lower rate, then cancel the old reservation.

A flight booked on Priceline
Priceline issued this ticket, so ask Priceline to reprice the same flights. The difference comes back as a credit with the airline.
- 1Reach PricelineIn the Priceline app or at priceline.com, open My Trips and this flight. Priceline’s assistant, Penny, answers first; ask it for a person, or call 1-800-774-2354. Have your confirmation number and the airline’s own code ready.
- 2Ask for a repricing“The price of my flights went down. Please reprice my ticket to today’s lower fare on the exact same flights, same dates and same times. I don’t want to change anything. Please give me the difference as an airline credit.” Keep the flights; don’t cancel anything.
- 3Check the creditAsk the agent where the credit will show. It is in each traveler’s name.

If they push back, ask for a supervisor or try again later. Airlines charge no change fee on Main Cabin and above, and a ticket bought on Priceline is changed through Priceline.
Good to know
- Express Deal flights can’t be changed. If you are a Priceline VIP member and the same flight is cheaper on Priceline, you can claim Priceline’s Best Price Guarantee until midnight before the day you fly; Priceline refunds twice the difference, up to what you paid.
- Ask whether there is any fee before the agent reissues the ticket.
- The difference usually comes back as airline credit, not cash. Check the expiry date on it; most last about a year.
- Repricing can lower the status credit you earn on this trip, because some airlines count what you paid.
- Basic fares can’t be changed for a lower price, so Tuur doesn’t alert on them.
Priceline’s Best Price Guarantee
- For Priceline VIP members.
- Ordinary bookings: find the same booking cheaper on Priceline within 24 hours of booking, and Priceline refunds the difference to your card.
- Express Deals: claim until midnight before the day you travel, and Priceline refunds twice the difference, up to what you paid.
- Claim with Priceline’s online form and screenshots, or through customer care.
- Not covered: packages, a lower price that is itself an Express Deal, and bookings provided by Booking.com or Agoda.
Four rules that keep you safe
- Book the new room first and see its confirmation before you cancel anything. If the lower price disappears while you switch, you still have your room.
- Same hotel, same dates, same room type, beds and meals. A different room is a different price.
- Never swap a booking with free cancellation for a prepaid, non-refundable one.
- Leave yourself time. Switch well before the free-cancellation deadline, not the night before.
Questions
Does Priceline refund you if the price drops?
Only in a narrow case. VIP members who find the same booking cheaper on Priceline within 24 hours can claim the Best Price Guarantee and get the difference back. After that, Priceline doesn’t refund drops.
Does Priceline have price drop protection?
No. Priceline doesn’t watch prices after you book. Its Best Price Guarantee is a claim you make yourself: within 24 hours, or until midnight before travel for Express Deals, which pay twice the difference.
Does Priceline honor price drops?
On a refundable hotel rate, you can book the lower rate and then cancel the old one yourself. On a flight, ask Priceline to reprice the same flights; most airlines give the difference as credit. Express Deals can’t be changed.
