Alaska Airlines price dropped after you booked
Alaska Airlines doesn’t lower the price of a ticket after you buy it. Its own policy page says it can’t apply price adjustments after purchase, and that its agents don’t adjust prices because a fare went down.
Until early October 2026, an agent could reprice a ticket and put the difference in your Alaska Wallet. Travelers and travel sites report that ended around October 7.
What you can still do
- Within 24 hours of buying: cancel for a full refund to your card, as long as the flight is more than 24 hours away. Then book again at the lower price.
- On a refundable fare: cancel for your money back, then book again at the lower price.
- On Main, Premium and First: cancelling has no fee, but the money comes back as Alaska travel credit, not to your card. If you book the lower fare first and then cancel the old ticket, the difference stays with you as credit.
- On Saver: no changes. Cancelling 14 or more days before the flight gives back half the fare as credit; later than that, nothing.
Before you cancel for credit
- Only cancel while the lower fare is still showing.
- Book online. Booking by phone has cost $30 per person since July 2, 2026.
- Discount codes are lost when a ticket is changed or cancelled.
- The credit can only be used on alaskaair.com or hawaiianairlines.com, and it expires. Check the date.
Why Tuur doesn’t track Alaska flights
Tuur tells you about drops you can get back without cancelling your ticket. On Alaska, after the first 24 hours, a lower price only comes back as travel credit after a cancellation, so Tuur doesn’t track Alaska or Hawaiian flights.
Questions
Does Alaska Airlines have a price drop policy?
Not any more. Alaska says it can’t apply price adjustments after purchase, and its agents won’t. You can cancel a Main, Premium or First ticket for travel credit and book again at the lower fare.
Can you get money back if your Alaska flight price drops?
Only within 24 hours of buying, or on a refundable fare. Otherwise cancelling gives back travel credit, not money, and Saver fares get back half at most.
Does this apply to Hawaiian Airlines?
Alaska’s policy pages cover both airlines, so the same rules appear to apply to Hawaiian tickets.
